Within the framework of the initiative “Engagement für Afrika“ of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, EUCC-D is collaborating with the Ghanaian NGO „Friends of the Nation”. The aim of this project is to document coastal resources and their vulnerability especially in the light of climate change in the coastal regions of West Ghana as well as in Germany. At the same time, the project also aims to strengthen the participation of civil society in coastal zone management and promotes the involvement of youths. In order to reach this goal, a coastal management and climate change club will be founded in schools in Ghana and Germany. Through field studies and excursions as well as online training modules the youngsters explore how humans and climate change impact the coasts. Subsequently they can pass on this knowledge through the available mediums in their regions such as theatre plays or the radio. The youths will document the coastal resources and their vulnerability in GIS-based maps.
