GIZC: Sustainable Development & Integrated Management - Coastal Area

THE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF PROJECT:

This program aims to inform the public policies about scientific knowledge useful for the decision-making. Associated activities deal with the reinforcement of the capacity to decline the scientific offer to better answer the society problems (in particular, development of economic activities in the coastal zone). These actions require a strong capacity of integration and synthesis and several resources controlled by the Institute in term of multi-field expertise, tools and systems as data base, SIG, models, etc. It is also necessary to develop a partnership with the specialists concerned in the fields in the socio-economy, futurology and governance.

The application of these competences must be adaptable to the various situations met in coastal zone. Activities of program GIZC require to associate the actors of various spheres, political and institutional (managers, decision makers), economic and social (professionals, associations, citizens) and scientist.

The geographical areas concerned in this project are the metropolitan coastal zones.

This project covers the following actions:

  • Coordination
  • Analysis of society request
  • Economic and sociological evaluations of the coastal environment
  • Development and structuring of the opinions and expertises in relation to coastal installations
  • GIS
  • Territorial applications
