EMBARC intends to meet the scope of work described in the 'Competitive and Sustainable Growth' programme from the EU 5th framework research and development programme. Key goals of this project are to encapsulate the requirements/needs of VTMIS (Vessel Traffic Management and Information Services) stakeholders by using current and emerging technologies within Vessel Traffic Management, to examine appropriate measures and to realise the benefits for waterborne transport, e.g. the mitigation of risk in specific maritime regions and the enhancement of transport efficiency.
